POLITICAL ANALYSIS

Europe's Path forward: Steady Leaders, New Horizons

The recent EU parliamentary elections have resulted in a clear victory for the European People’s Party (EPP). These results suggests a likely continuation of the partially unstable informal centre-left to centre-right coalition over the next five years. Although populist and nationalist right-wing parties have gained more seats, a strong united far-right alliance remains unlikely. Both Parliament and the new Commission face significant political challenges in the years ahead.

INTERVIEW
with Pita Limjaroenrat

In Europe, the elections to the European Parliament have just concluded, and discussions are primarily focused on the election results. Meanwhile, in other parts of the world, the focus is on ensuring parliamentarians can work freely without the risk of reprisals, intimidation, or judicial harassment, and on advocating for human rights and democracy. Pita Limjaroenrat, leader of the "Move Forward" party in Thailand, gives an insight into his current situation and more generally in that of parliamentarians in Thailand and the region.

Second, there is a notable enthusiasm for the use of social media, which has helped Bukele to become well-known and popular. Third, the extraordinary success of its public policies in the area of security, although accompanied by the potential for adverse consequences, is worthy of note.
